From October 25-27, the streets of Barrio Logan were filled with flowers and pictures of loved ones to celebrate Dia De Los Muertos. The parade included restored lowriders and a dancing Native American tribute. The stores and restaurants were decorated with cross sugar skulls and even a skeleton was waiting at the bus stop. There was also a giveaway for tickets to the Journey of the Skeletons performed by the Chrysalis: Monarch Center for the Arts directed by Hector Rivera. The families participating were absolutely adorable dressed in traditional costumes, and like always, the food was delicious .Barrio is such a pleasant place to honor one’s culture and to mourn, heal, and release pain. El Dia de Los Muertos is a family-oriented holiday that is mean tto keep cultural traditions alive. Please check us out next year.
