An unknown woman allegedly pepper-sprayed a 15-year-old Muslim girl in Brooklyn, New York on December 19, 2023. The alleged assailant escaped on foot but was possibly captured on security camera video.
The victim refused medical treatment at the scene.
Local news WPIX reported that CAIR said the alleged assailant called the victim a “terrorist” before pepper-spraying her, though the New York Police (NYPD) has not confirmed that part of the story.
Afaf Nasher, Executive Director of CAIR (Council of American-Islamic Relations) said, “We condemn this alleged attack and call on law enforcement to do whatever they can to protect minority communities targeted by hate.”
