The Indian Voices monthly newspaper proudly welcomes Dr. C. Sade Turnipseed, PhD—and her new monthly column, Turnipseed Chronicles: The Cotton Pickers’ Legacy—History, Culture & Change—to our growing family of contributors.

Dr. Turnipseed brings a powerful and deeply rooted voice to our publication, with a dedicated focus on the issues, concerns, and cultural legacy of the Mississippi Delta—historically, known as “The Cotton Kingdom” of the world. Her work will shine a light on transformative initiatives such as the Cotton Pickers Monument/Historic Park and the International Cotton Pickers UNITE Movement, both of which she is helping to lead through her nonprofit organization, KHAFRE, Inc.

In addition to these efforts, Dr. Turnipseed will explore a wide range of topics, including education, culture, and general wellness across the South—while occasionally extending her lens to African progress and global social movements that connect us all.
