What does a day of work look like for you?
No day is ever the same, and I am required to be versatile. My job involves many moving parts, and it requires constant interaction with the various departments. My favorite “task” is really a blessing: I enjoy interacting with the different guests.
What is your favorite thing about working at Paragon?
In addition to meeting new people and getting to be a part of their lives for just a moment, I enjoy the constant opportunity to learn and hone my hospitality skills.
The casino & gaming industry is predominantly male in terms of executive leadership. What progress have you seen for women in your industry?
I have seen women excel! I am the first African American VP here at Paragon. This shows that hard work pays off here—even for women, which is very encouraging.
What does Women’s History Month mean to you personally and professionally?
Personally, I have a daughter and granddaughters, as well as many women and girls in my family who I deeply admire. It is my hope that the world will continue evolving into a place where they can thrive. Professionally, I hope that my accomplishments act as a beacon of hope for other women, especially minorities.
What legacy do you hope to leave for the next generation of female leaders?
I hope that we all remain appreciative of our ancestors who have paved the way for us. Let us also keep uplifting each other. No man—or woman—is an island.
