Roberta Garcia, born in Los Angeles, California, was raised by Stella and Ray Volanos. She was also raised with the loving guidance of her grandfather, Manuel Garcia. She was given her Indian name—”Sits Good Eagle Woman”—by TJ Plenty Chief, and her Aztec name is “Humming Bird Wind,” which was given to her by Sonora Cobb. She is vibrant and exudes the embodiment of both Aztec and Chumash traditions. In 2014, she made Las Vegas, NV her home.

Roberta’s journey has been rich with diverse experiences. As a caregiver, she has nurtured and supported those in need. Her involvement in organizations like the Woman’s Paiute Circle and Fifth Sun Project reflects her commitment to community and spiritual connection.

Roberta’s advocacy against domestic violence, through her role as a spokesperson for 38Roses, showcases her dedication to empowering women and fostering safer communities. In the past, she taught martial arts and defense classes in Reno-Sparks, NV, sharing her expertise and instilling confidence and self-defense skills in others.

A proud bearer of her cultural heritage, Roberta is deeply involved in traditional Aztec and Chumash ceremonies. From leading powwow dances to donning traditional Aztec regalia, she honors her ancestors with every step she takes.

Roberta’s life philosophy is rooted in respect for Mother Earth and reverence for her elders. She embodies the teachings of her ancestors, advocating for the preservation of traditions, languages, and sacred lands. Her wisdom lies in the simple yet profound act of listening to her elders, learning from their stories, and carrying their legacies forward.

While Walking the Red Road, Roberta has faced challenges, but through humility and perseverance, she has emerged as a beacon of strength and wisdom. Her journey serves as an inspiration to all who seek to walk in harmony with the earth and honor the wisdom of those who came before her.
