Alaska Waits Final Count on Mary Peltola’s Senate Bid
The final vote count for Mary Peltola’s Senate bid is still ongoing, on Saturday, November 7, after the prior Tuesday’s election.
Peltola already made history in 2022 when she was the first Native Alaskan to serve in the US Congress. She also served in the Alaska House of Representatives from 1999 to 2009.
Peltola is from the Yup’ik community of Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta in western Alaska.
Representative Mary Peltola posts "Today is the summer solstice! In my hometown of Bethel, we’ll have over 19 hours of daylight. This is time that Alaskans love to spend outside with friends and family, and celebrating the amazing place we live. While I’m working in D.C. today, my heart is back on the water!”, from Mary Peltola's Congressional Office, Wikimedia
