LAS VEGAS  — Community leaders whose service helped shape the Historic Westside were honored Saturday at Westside Legacy Park, where new plaques featuring the names and images of the 2026 inductees were unveiled.

Claytee White attended the event and emphasized the importance of preserving local history.

White is retired from UNLV, where she was employed for just over 21 years.

She also started a small business named History in Living Color, collecting history and giving tours of the Historic Westside neighborhood.

“So, at a time when history is being destroyed by the Federal government on all levels. It is so important for us to save our history,” White said.

White said writing and archiving are important so that history can be preserved for many years in the future, highlighting the lasting impact these community stories can have through resilience and progress.
