Vote No on Prop 36
On October 23, the New Path Organization met at the Hall of Justice to discuss important issues affecting our community in areas of choice, reform, and healing. Gretchen Burns Bergman, the executive director of the New Path, presented a strong argument against the unwanted Prop 36, which increases incarceration and reduces mental health care. The New Path is in favor of Prop 47, which improves rights for families. Prop 47 promotes anti-drug overdose programs like the Safe Neighborhoods & Schools Act and laws to increase naloxone distribution to address the opioid overdose crisis. Prop 64 promotes medical cannabis.
There was a heartfelt presentation by Askari Abdul-Muntaqim with Pillars of the Community to support successful reformation. Other speakers included the president of New Path, Caroline Stewart LCSW, the Alliance San Diego Mobilization Fund, the SD Chapter of Americans for Safe Access, the Asian Solidarity Collective, and many other supportive agencies. The New Path press conference provided clear information and a clear path for discussion in drug reform and how our community is affected. Please checkout the
